Amazing Amazon August 27, 2006

The internet company that most consistently exceeds my expectations is Amazon.com.
Last week, they wowed me again with a completely unexpected box of goodies as a way to remind me of their newly launched Amazon Groceries:
I’ve ended up buying over $300 of dry goods, including cleaning supplies to last me a lifetime, and diapers that Shuya seems to be always running short of! $10 off every $50 you spend makes this an even sweeter deal 
On the web2.0 front, Amazon was a true pioneer when they first published their web API. Their recent web services (check out Simple Storage System [S3], Elastic Compute Cloud and the Mechanical Turk – love the fantastical names!), I think, are going to be even more significant in the game-changing, rules-busting sense. They’re basically reinventing computing as we know it. Computers brought the virtual world. Now Amazon is bringing us virtual computers, hard disks and robots!
