If you’re suffering from the same malady with your macbook pro, I learnt this from a visit to my friendly Burlingame Apple Store:
- it’s a known software issue
- no fix yet, but a work-around is to type shift-control-<eject key>

(that’s the key to eject your dvd or cd rom from the superdrive)

This worked for me on both the macbook pro keyboard and my bluetooth keyboard.

I guess this is Apple’s version of the Magic Boss Key!
