Upgrading to Parallels 5?

leave a comment »

For me, the upgrade took forever, and seemed to go in an infinite loop showing an error message saying a virtual disk did not exist or was not available. Basically, an error dialog like this:

After some googling, it turns out that the answer lies here:

KB Parallels: Unable to start virtual machine, error message ‘Connection failed. The server at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx may not exist or it is unavailable at this time’ is displayed.

Basically, you need to delete all aliases that link to your parallels virtual disk that may reside in your Desktop, Applications or Dock folders.

Hope this helps someone else!
